Calgary, Alberta – June 10, 2026 — Calgary International Airport (YYC) has achieved a significant milestone on the global stage after being recognized as Canada’s most improved airport in the latest international airport rankings released by AirHelp.

The annual AirHelp Score, one of the world’s most widely recognized airport performance rankings, evaluated 279 airports across 76 countries based on key factors including punctuality, customer service, terminal facilities, and overall passenger experience.

Calgary International Airport climbed an impressive 26 positions compared to the previous year, earning an overall score of 7.45 out of 10 and securing 171st place worldwide. The substantial improvement made YYC the fastest-rising airport in Canada in this year’s rankings.

The AirHelp Score places significant emphasis on punctuality, which accounts for 60 per cent of an airport’s overall rating. The remaining evaluation is based on passenger feedback regarding airport services, facilities, comfort, and overall travel experience.

While Calgary recorded the strongest improvement among Canadian airports, it ranked third nationally behind Winnipeg Richardson International Airport and Edmonton International Airport. Both Winnipeg and Edmonton received scores of 7.47, placing them in 165th and 166th positions globally.

The recognition highlights Calgary International Airport’s continued efforts to enhance passenger services, improve operational efficiency, and accommodate growing traveller volumes. YYC has experienced significant growth in recent years as Calgary continues to establish itself as a major transportation and economic hub in Western Canada.

Globally, the highest-ranking airport in the 2026 AirHelp Score was Tocumen International Airport, which earned an overall score of 8.48. It was followed by Fortaleza Airport in second place and Cape Town International Airport in third.

Several other Canadian airports also appeared on the international list. Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport ranked 199th with a score of 7.38, while Vancouver International Airport placed 230th with a score of 7.22. Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport followed closely in 231st position with a score of 7.18.

At the lower end of the Canadian rankings, Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport ranked 254th globally with a score of 7.03. Toronto Pearson International Airport recorded the lowest ranking among major Canadian airports, placing 263rd with an overall score of 6.95.

The latest achievement adds to a growing list of accolades for Calgary International Airport. Industry observers note that YYC has consistently invested in infrastructure upgrades, passenger amenities, and operational improvements aimed at creating a smoother travel experience for both domestic and international travellers.

Airport officials and local business leaders have frequently emphasized the importance of maintaining a world-class aviation gateway as Calgary’s population and tourism sector continue to expand. Improved airport performance is also seen as a key factor in attracting international visitors, supporting trade, and strengthening economic development throughout Alberta.

The recognition comes at a time when global airports are facing increasing pressure to improve efficiency, reduce delays, and enhance customer satisfaction amid rising passenger demand.

For Calgary International Airport, the latest ranking represents not only a notable improvement but also a sign that investments in service quality and operational excellence are delivering results.

As passenger traffic continues to recover and grow, airport officials will likely look to build on this momentum and further improve YYC’s standing among the world’s leading airports in future rankings.
