YouthLenz Film Festival 2026 Inspires a New Generation of Storytellers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

PESHAWAR: Creativity, innovation and youthful imagination took center stage as the YouthLenz Film Festival 2026, organized by the Directorate of Youth Affairs Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in collaboration with Colors, concluded with an impressive celebration of emerging filmmakers from across the province.

The festival transformed into a vibrant forum where young directors, writers, animators and content creators presented stories that reflected the aspirations, challenges and diverse experiences of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Through documentaries, short films, AI-animated productions and music videos, participants demonstrated how modern filmmaking has become a powerful tool for creative expression, social awareness and cultural preservation.

The event attracted filmmakers, artists, students and members of the creative community, all united by a shared passion for storytelling. Throughout the festival, audiences witnessed productions covering a variety of themes, including environmental conservation, social responsibility, human emotions and everyday life. The screenings highlighted not only artistic creativity but also the growing technical skills of young filmmakers who are embracing new technologies, including artificial intelligence, to tell compelling stories.

Festival organizers said the initiative was designed to encourage young people to explore careers in filmmaking and digital media while providing them with an opportunity to present their work before a wider audience. Beyond the competition, the festival created an environment where aspiring filmmakers exchanged ideas, learned from one another and built valuable professional connections.

Following the screenings, a panel of judges evaluated the entries on the basis of originality, storytelling, cinematic quality, creativity and technical excellence. The competition showcased remarkable talent, making the selection process highly competitive.

The festival’s highest honour was awarded to Basit Alvi for his short film “Filhaal,” which secured first place for its compelling storytelling and creative execution.

The second prize was presented to Shazaib for “Save Water, Save Life,” a film promoting environmental awareness and responsible use of natural resources through an engaging and thought-provoking narrative.

The third prize went to Mohammad Shoaib for “Khamoshi,” a production that impressed the judges with its emotional depth and cinematic presentation.

The winning filmmakers received cash awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements, while certificates of participation were presented to all entrants in appreciation of their contribution to the success of the festival.

The closing ceremony concluded with a lively musical performance featuring traditional and contemporary entertainment, creating an atmosphere of celebration as participants, guests and organizers marked another successful edition of the YouthLenz Film Festival.

The festival highlighted the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s continuing efforts to empower young people by investing in creative industries and providing opportunities for emerging artists to develop their skills. By encouraging filmmaking, digital storytelling and artistic innovation, the initiative aims to strengthen the province’s creative sector while inspiring young people to use cinema as a medium for education, cultural dialogue and positive social change.

The event was organized with the support of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Sports & Youth Affairs Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Deputy Commissioner Peshawar. Organizers expressed confidence that the festival will continue to serve as an important platform for discovering and promoting the next generation of filmmakers, helping young talent reach national and international audiences through the power of cinema.
