According to police, the suspects allegedly gained unauthorized access to legitimate financial investment accounts, removed money belonging to multiple clients and transferred the funds into their own accounts.

The alleged fraud involved several victims, although investigators have not disclosed the exact number of people affected or identified the financial company involved.

During the investigation, officers discovered that the accused had also allegedly attempted to access another 18 client accounts. The company intervened before unauthorized access could result in further financial losses.

All three accused are in their early 20s and face multiple charges connected to fraud and money laundering.

Two of the individuals have been released and are expected to appear in court as the legal proceedings move forward.

The third accused, King-Wa-Mfumu Tshiama, remains at large. Strathcona County RCMP are asking anyone with information about Tshiama’s whereabouts to contact investigators at 780-467-7741.

Police described the investigation, which lasted approximately one year, as complex. Investigators reviewed several hundred documents and carried out seven judicial authorizations as they worked to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged financial fraud.

Authorities confirmed that the approximately $130,000 in losses was recovered through the financial company’s insurance coverage.

The investigation highlights the risks associated with unauthorized access to financial accounts and the importance of safeguards protecting clients’ investments and personal financial information.

Police are continuing efforts to locate the outstanding accused as the case proceeds through the justice system.
