A 21-year-old man from Richmond Hill has been charged with voyeurism following an alleged incident in a women’s changeroom at the University of Guelph.
According to the Guelph Police Service, the incident occurred on October 30, 2026, when a man allegedly used his cellphone to record a woman inside a shower stall on the university campus.
Police received a report that the suspect had placed his cellphone underneath the shower stall door while the woman was using the facility.
Following the complaint, investigators launched an investigation and reviewed security camera footage to identify the individual allegedly involved in the incident.
Using the surveillance footage, officers were able to identify a suspect, who was subsequently arrested on Tuesday, November 3.
The 21-year-old Richmond Hill resident has since been charged with voyeurism under the Criminal Code of Canada.
The incident has raised concerns about privacy and personal safety in university facilities, particularly in spaces where students and members of the campus community expect a high level of privacy.
Police have not released further details about the accused or indicated whether additional charges are being considered.
