A prestigious ceremony was held at China Window in Peshawar to honour distinguished personalities Zia ul Haq Sarhadi and Jamshed Ali Khan for their outstanding services to the nation after being awarded civil honours.
The event brought together a large number of participants from various walks of life, including intellectuals, journalists, writers, social activists, business leaders, and government representatives. The purpose of the gathering was to pay tribute to the contributions of individuals whose dedicated efforts have brought recognition and pride to the country.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary Agriculture Dr. Bakhtiar Khan as chief guest, who praised the award recipients and stated that civil awards represent national recognition of tireless dedication, professional excellence, and patriotic service. He added that personalities like Zia ul Haq Sarhadi and Jamshed Ali Khan serve as role models for the younger generation.
Senior Vice President of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry Peshawar Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Muhammad Nadeem, congratulated both awardees on behalf of the business community. He noted that their services spanning over four to five decades have been formally recognized by the Government of Pakistan, which is a matter of great pride for the people of Peshawar. He also appreciated the management of China Window for hosting the event.
Prominent figures including lawyer Muhammad Habib Qureshi, former Member Provincial Assembly Dr. Zakir Shah, social activist Khwaja Akbar Sethi, columnist association representative Waseem Shahid, and administrator Amjad Aziz Malik also addressed the gathering.
Speakers highlighted that the services of the honourees are unforgettable and that nations always value individuals who contribute positively to society. They emphasized that the achievements of the award recipients are a source of pride not only for Peshawar but for the entire province and country.
Speaking on the occasion, Zia ul Haq Sarhadi stated that he had devoted over 50 years of his life to serving his city and community in various capacities. Similarly, Jamshed Ali Khan, a recipient of the Presidential award, shared that he had served for decades in radio, stage, and television. At the conclusion of the ceremony, chief guest Dr. Bakhtiar Khan presented bouquets and traditional shawls to the honourees. Host Imtiaz Ahmad presented traditional caps, while Muhammad Nadeem of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry awarded commemorative shields to both personalities.
