CALGARY, Alberta – The Five Rivers Society of Calgary is preparing to host “Virasat Di Goonj” (Echo of Heritage) on Sunday, June 28, from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Magnolia Hall, Calgary. The event aims to celebrate Punjabi heritage, culture, traditions, and the sacrifices of legendary freedom fighters while promoting cultural awareness among younger generations.

Organized under the theme “Preserve Our Heritage, Inspire Our Future,” the gathering will bring together members of Calgary’s Punjabi community for an afternoon of cultural performances, historical discussions, traditional music, poetry, and educational presentations highlighting Punjab’s rich history and legacy.

A special segment of the program will pay tribute to renowned revolutionary heroes, including Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Udham Singh, and Kartar Singh Sarabha, whose courage and sacrifices continue to inspire generations. Through speeches, artistic presentations, and cultural performances, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about their contributions to the freedom movement and the enduring values they represent.

The program highlights include folk culture, traditional songs, historical narratives, poetry, discussions on Punjabi heritage, and special presentations dedicated to preserving the language, culture, and traditions of Punjab. Organizers say the event is designed to strengthen community bonds while encouraging younger generations to remain connected to their roots.

Admission to the event is free, and a large turnout of families, youth, seniors, and community leaders from Calgary and surrounding areas is expected.
