We have charged a woman in connection with a series of gym locker thefts at recreation facilities across Calgary.

In March 2026, we received reports of multiple thefts from gym lockers at City of Calgary recreation centres. In each incident, victims reported that wallets, bank cards and identification documents were stolen.

Through our investigation, we identified a suspect in two thefts that occurred at the Southland Leisure Centre. These incidents, reported by separate victims, occurred on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, and Sunday, Feb. 15, 2026.

On Wednesday, April 15, 2026, with the assistance of the CPS Prolific Offender Engagement Team and the High River RCMP, we executed a search warrant at a residence in High River, Alta. During the search, we located stolen identification documents.

As a result, Nicole Kathryn KISER, 37, of High River, has been charged with four counts of possession of a stolen credit card and four counts of theft under $5,000. She will next appear in court on Monday, May 4, 2026.

Multiple investigations into additional gym locker thefts across Calgary remain ongoing. Since November 2025, we have received reports of more than 60 incidents at various locations. While conducting followup visits, investigators also identified additional victims who had not previously reported the thefts.

“Reporting these incidents is crucial. It allows us to investigate each occurrence, identify trends and, in some cases, link suspects to multiple incidents,” says Calgary Police Service District 1 Acting Insp. Paul Ralstin. “While these thefts may appear minor, they have real impacts on victims and their feelings of safety. We are committed to thoroughly investigating these occurrences.”

Locker theft prevention tips:

  • Always ensure your locker is fully locked, even if you are stepping away for a short time
  • Avoid bringing valuables to the gym, particularly debit and credit cards
  • If you must bring valuables, use a high-quality lock that cannot be easily manipulated or forced open
  • Be aware of your surroundings when entering locker codes
  • Do not allow other to follow you into gym facilities; ensure they have signed in
  • Ask staff about valuables lockers or staff-held storage options
  • Report any suspicious behaviour to gym staff
  • Report thefts to both your gym and police
