According to sources, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had taken custody of the players’ mobile phones before handing them over to the relevant authorities as part of an ongoing inquiry.
The NCCIA subsequently issued notices to Imam and Rizwan, directing them to appear before the agency in Lahore on Friday. The notices were reportedly issued on Monday.
Sources said a third Pakistan cricketer has also received a notice from the NCCIA in connection with the investigation.
The agency is expected to examine data and other information retrieved from the players’ mobile phones. Sources further claimed that the cricketers may be asked to unlock their phones during the questioning.
The inquiry is reportedly linked to alleged dressing-room leaks during Pakistan’s recent England tour, although the exact nature and scope of the investigation have not been officially disclosed.
The reason behind the PCB taking custody of the players’ phones and subsequently handing them over to the NCCIA remains unclear, with the cricket board yet to issue an official explanation on the matter.
Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan were among seven Pakistan cricketers sent home midway through the England tour following heavy defeats in the opening two Tests of the three-match series.
The development comes amid significant changes within Pakistan cricket, with the PCB making sweeping alterations to the Test setup following the team’s poor results in England.
Neither the PCB nor the NCCIA has officially commented on the details of the reported summons or the investigation so far.
