Calgary: Calgary police have laid multiple firearms trafficking charges as part of an ongoing investigation linked to a 2025 domestic homicide, expanding the scope of the case beyond the initial murder charge.

Homicide that triggered the investigation

The case stems from an incident on July 19, 2025, when officers responded to reports of gunshots at the Shops at Heritage on Macleod Trail S.W. Police found 23-year-old Madisson Cobb suffering from gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two days later, 27-year-old Devon Bradley Malik was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities later recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the killing, noting that its serial number had been defaced. This discovery prompted a deeper investigation into potential firearms trafficking.

Weapons seized during search

As part of the follow-up probe, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in southwest Calgary on February 3, 2026. The search led to the seizure of multiple weapons and related items, including:

  • Four rifles
  • Three shotguns, including one with an altered serial number
  • Numerous air guns
  • Six prohibited magazines
  • Multiple boxes of ammunition

Police confirmed that further forensic analysis is ongoing, particularly concerning the modified shotgun.

New charges laid

On April 28, 2026, authorities arrested 44-year-old Gordon Kesh Cameron of Calgary in connection with the firearms investigation.

He faces:

  • Two counts of firearms trafficking
  • Two counts of failing to report a firearm lost or stolen
  • One count of possession of prohibited devices

Cameron has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court on June 2, 2026.

Outstanding weapon

Investigators are also searching for a missing handgun — a Norinco 1911A1 — allegedly registered to Cameron, which remains unaccounted for.

Police vow continued investigation

Officials say the case highlights how homicide investigations can uncover broader criminal networks, particularly involving illegal firearms.

Police emphasized that efforts will continue to trace the origins and movement of weapons linked to the case, with a focus on holding all individuals involved accountable.
