Among those attending the celebration were Alberta Minister Tanya Fir and MLA Muhammad Yaseen, who also serves as Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism. Their presence reflected the provincial government’s continued support for Alberta’s diverse cultural communities and the important role multicultural festivals play in strengthening social connections.

The festival featured traditional Serbian music, cultural performances, food and family oriented activities, giving attendees an opportunity to experience and celebrate Serbian traditions. Organizers said the annual event continues to serve as a bridge between communities while helping younger generations remain connected to their cultural roots.

Speaking during the event, Minister Tanya Fir acknowledged the longstanding contributions of Serbian Canadians to Alberta’s growth and development. She praised the Serbian community for its dedication to entrepreneurship, volunteerism, leadership and community service across the province.

He noted that events like Serbian Fest help strengthen community relationships while showcasing the cultural richness that makes Alberta diverse and vibrant.

“For generations, Serbian families have helped shape our province through hard work, entrepreneurship, community leadership and volunteerism,” the dignitaries noted during the celebration. “Events like Serbian Fest are an important opportunity to celebrate culture, strengthen community connections and share traditions with future generations.”

Community members and organizers expressed appreciation for the continued support shown by government representatives and volunteers who helped make the festival successful.
