Pakistan women’s cricket captain Fatima Sana created history by smashing the fastest half-century ever recorded in women’s Twenty20 International cricket, reaching 50 runs in just 15 balls during Pakistan’s commanding victory over Zimbabwe at the National Stadium Karachi.

The remarkable innings came in the third and final T20I of the series on May 15, 2026, as Pakistan completed a clean 3-0 sweep over Zimbabwe. Sana’s breathtaking knock of 62 runs off only 19 deliveries powered Pakistan to a formidable total of 223 for 4 in 20 overs before Zimbabwe were bowled out for 90, handing the home side a massive 133-run victory.

Record-Breaking Performance

Fatima Sana eclipsed the previous record of an 18-ball fifty, jointly held by Sophie Devine of New Zealand, Phoebe Litchfield of Australia, and Richa Ghosh of India.

Walking to the crease with Pakistan already in a strong position, Sana launched an astonishing assault on Zimbabwe’s bowlers. Her innings included 10 boundaries and two sixes and was played at a phenomenal strike rate of 326.31.

The Karachi-born all-rounder wasted no time, hitting a boundary off the very first ball she faced and continuing her aggressive approach throughout the innings.

Player of the Match and Series Sweep

Unsurprisingly, Sana was named Player of the Match for her extraordinary batting display. She also contributed with the ball, taking one wicket as Zimbabwe struggled to cope with Pakistan’s all-round dominance.

Pakistan’s emphatic victory secured a comprehensive 3-0 series triumph, underlining the growing strength and confidence of the national women’s team.

Rising Star of Pakistan Cricket

At just 24 years old, Fatima Sana has established herself as one of Pakistan’s premier all-rounders. Since assuming the captaincy, she has significantly improved her batting while continuing to excel as a pace bowler.

Over her last 10 limited-overs internationals, Sana has scored 283 runs and taken 18 wickets, demonstrating her immense value to the team.

Earlier in the season, she also registered two One-Day International half-centuries against South Africa, showcasing her growing consistency with the bat.

A Landmark Moment for Pakistan Women’s Cricket

Sana’s world-record innings marks a historic achievement not only for Pakistan but for women’s cricket globally. Her explosive performance reflects the rapid progress of Pakistan’s women’s team and highlights the country’s increasing impact on the international stage.

Pakistan has invested significantly in developing women’s cricket in recent years, and performances like Sana’s are inspiring a new generation of young girls to take up the sport.

International Recognition

Cricket experts and fans from around the world praised Sana’s extraordinary feat, with many calling it one of the most destructive innings ever seen in women’s T20 cricket.

The record-breaking innings places Fatima Sana among the elite players in world cricket and further strengthens her reputation as one of the most exciting all-round talents in the game today.

With major international tournaments on the horizon, Pakistan will look to build on this momentum under Sana’s leadership as the team aims for continued success on the global stage.
