Calgary, Alberta: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Alberta, Canada, will organize the “Baba Bulleh Shah International Conference” on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Dawat Restaurant. The event will bring together members of the Pakistani Canadian community, scholars, intellectuals, social activists, and admirers of Sufi philosophy to celebrate the timeless message of one of South Asia’s greatest spiritual poets, Baba Bulleh Shah. Dinner will be served following the conference.

The conference will be graced by Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, former Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan and a senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party, as the Chief Guest. He is expected to speak on the enduring relevance of Baba Bulleh Shah’s teachings and their importance in today’s world.

The conference aims to highlight Baba Bulleh Shah’s philosophy of love, peace, humanity, tolerance, and harmony among people of all faiths and backgrounds. His poetry challenged religious extremism, social injustice, discrimination, and divisions based on caste and class, while promoting compassion, equality, and the unity of humankind. More than two centuries after his lifetime, his verses continue to inspire millions across Pakistan, India, and around the world.

Born in the late seventeenth century in present-day Pakistan, Baba Bulleh Shah is regarded as one of the greatest Sufi poets in Punjabi literature. A disciple of the renowned Sufi master Shah Inayat Qadiri, Bulleh Shah used simple yet powerful poetry to convey profound spiritual truths. His famous verses, including “Bulleya Ki Jaana Main Kaun” and “Tere Ishq Nachaya”, have transcended generations and continue to be sung by leading artists across the globe.

According to the organizers, the conference will serve as a platform to encourage dialogue, mutual respect, and cultural understanding within Canada’s diverse multicultural society while introducing younger generations to the rich literary and spiritual heritage of the subcontinent.

The event is being organized under the leadership of Chaudhry Yaqoob Ahmad Chheena, Vice President, Pakistan People’s Party Canada, coordinating the conference arrangements, and Chaudhry Tanveer Ahmed, President, Pakistan PPP Alberta, Canada.

Community members from all backgrounds are invited to attend this memorable evening celebrating the life, poetry, and universal message of Baba Bulleh Shah.
