Pakistan–China Mark 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Grand Ceremony in Islamabad

A prestigious ceremony was held at KP House Islamabad to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China, jointly organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and China Window.

Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, Babar Saleem Swati, attended the event as chief guest. The ceremony brought together a diverse gathering of diplomats, provincial ministers, members of the provincial assembly, cultural figures, and representatives from different sectors.

Prominent attendees from the provincial cabinet and assembly included Minister Nazeer Abbasi, MPAs Akbar Ayub Khan, Asif Mehsud, Ikramullah Ghazi, Faiza Malik, Anwar Khan, and Sonia Shah. Senior officials, including Secretary KP Assembly Syed Waqar Shah along with staff from public relations, protocol, and other departments, were also present.

The event began with the national anthems of Pakistan and China, setting a formal tone for the occasion. This was followed by a documentary showcasing the long-standing history and depth of friendship between the two countries.

Welcoming the guests, Amjad Aziz Malik, Administrator of China Window, highlighted the significance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and China.

A specially produced commemorative song celebrating the 75th anniversary of Pakistan–China friendship was also presented. Based on Pashto poetry and accompanied by Chinese and Urdu subtitles, the performance received strong appreciation from the audience. Cultural artists further enriched the occasion with musical tributes honoring the enduring bond between the two nations.

Chinese Cultural Counselor Chen Ping, addressing the ceremony, emphasized the deep-rooted friendship and strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, describing it as a model of mutual trust and shared progress.

In his keynote address, Speaker Babar Saleem Swati stated that the Pakistan–China relationship has remained resilient for 75 years, growing stronger with time. He described the partnership as a symbol of sincerity, mutual respect, trust, and strategic cooperation.

He further highlighted the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a key pillar of shared development, noting that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa holds an important position in its implementation. He added that both countries continue to work together for regional peace, connectivity, and stability.

Referring to parliamentary diplomacy, he mentioned his recent visits to Kashgar and Urumqi, where discussions focused on enhancing trade, tourism, education, and cultural exchange. He also noted progress on sister-city initiatives between Peshawar and Urumqi, as well as Abbottabad and Kashgar.

The Speaker praised the cultural contributions of China Window, saying that music, literature, and art are playing an important role in bringing the peoples of both countries closer. He also acknowledged the contributions of Professor Dr. Abaseen Yousafzai, Dr. Irfan Khaliq, and Yamsa Noor.

The ceremony concluded with the distribution of commemorative souvenirs and a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate 75 years of Pakistan–China friendship.

The event ended with a renewed pledge to further strengthen people-to-people contact, cultural exchange, and strategic cooperation between the two brotherly nations.
