Man charged with manslaughter following fatal assault

A man has been charged with manslaughter following a suspicious death in Tomkins Park.

At around 5:05 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2026, we were called for reports of an assault in Tomkins Park, located in the 800 block of 17 Avenue S.W. Upon arrival, one man was located in medical distress and despite life-saving efforts, was declared deceased on scene. Another man was taken into custody.

As a result, Danny James TURKITCH, 68, has been charged with manslaughter in relation to this death. He will next appear in court on Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Following an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner today, Monday, June 22, 2026, the victim has been identified as Howard Gordon HUNTER, 67.
