Directorate of Youth Affairs Supports Theatre Revival with Professional Play in Peshawar

PESHAWAR, August 27: The Cat Theatre Club, under the auspices of the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, staged a professional theatre play at 4:00 pm on August 27 at the Archive Library Hall, Peshawar.
The event was attended by people from different walks of life, including representatives of the print and electronic media, while a large number of families and students also participated in the event. The audience witnessed a quality theatrical production based on the themes of love for Pakistan, national unity and solidarity.
The play was written by Batin Farooqi and directed by Khalid Khattak. The production provided meaningful entertainment to the audience while highlighting the importance of patriotism, unity and social responsibility.

The initiative holds particular significance as professional theatre activities have become relatively limited in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Through this initiative, the Directorate of Youth Affairs provided young people and the general public of Peshawar with an opportunity to watch quality and professional theatre.

The initiative was widely appreciated by the audience and cultural circles. Participants expressed the view that other government institutions and organizations should also follow this example by sponsoring and supporting theatre activities so that quality theatre can be promoted on a regular basis in the province.

The event received special attention and support from the officials of the Directorate of Youth Affairs. Madam Atifa, a senior official of the Directorate, took a personal interest in the activity, while Director Abbas Afridi also extended his personal support. Zaheer, Media Coordinator of the Directorate of Youth Affairs, also played an important role in supporting the event and facilitating its media coverage. The officials and staff of the Directorate extended full cooperation and support, contributing significantly to the successful execution of the event.
The theatre production received considerable coverage on social media as well as print and electronic news channels, reflecting the positive public response to the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, Director and actor Khalid Khattak said that the production would not have been possible without the support of the Directorate of Youth Affairs.

Such initiatives provide artists with much-needed opportunities and give the public access to quality theatre. I hope that the Directorate will continue supporting such activities in the future as well,” he said.
