Calgary Kashmiri Community Condemns Brutality in Pakistan-Administered Kashmir at Mass Protest

Hundreds of members of the Pakistani Kashmiri community, including men, women, and children, gathered outside Calgary City Hall to protest against what they described as injustices and systemic issues in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The demonstration drew a large crowd of concerned community members who called for accountability, democratic reforms, and respect for human rights.

The protest was attended and addressed by prominent community representatives including Tariq Khan, Sardar Rasheed Advocate, and Tahir Khan. Participants expressed concerns regarding political representation, governance issues, economic hardships, unemployment, rising costs of living, and other longstanding challenges affecting communities in Pakistan-administered Kashmir. Several speakers also referred to concerns surrounding representation and decision-making processes, arguing that Kashmiris should have a stronger voice in matters affecting their future.

Women and children played a visible role throughout the demonstration, standing alongside community leaders and carrying messages calling for peace, justice, and human rights. Organizers said the presence of entire families reflected the deep concern felt across generations regarding developments in their homeland.

The gathering remained peaceful as protesters chanted slogans demanding justice, accountability, and respect for human rights.
