A dignified reception was held in Peshawar to honor senior sports journalist Amjad Aziz Malik, where prominent figures from the fields of sports and journalism gathered to pay tribute to his achievements. The event was organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Writers Association to recognize his recent international honor.
Amjad Aziz Malik was recently selected as a Lifetime Honorary Member of the Executive Committee of the International Sports Press Association. This recognition is being regarded as a matter of great pride for Pakistan, particularly for the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the global acknowledgment of his contributions to sports journalism.
The ceremony was attended by squash legend Qamar Zaman, Director General Sports Tashfeen Haider, President of the Pakistan Cycling Federation Azhar Ali Shah, former president Nisar Ahmad, provincial Olympic Association representative Amjad Khan, Sports Writers Association President Asim Shiraz, Secretary Shahid Afridi, and a large number of sports writers and officials. The guests warmly welcomed him and presented bouquets, garlands, a traditional turban, and a commemorative shield.
In his address, Amjad Aziz Malik stated that he has completed forty years in sports journalism and that this international recognition is the result of his dedication, perseverance, and the support of his colleagues. He reaffirmed his commitment to promoting sports and working for the welfare of sports journalists in the future. He also expressed gratitude to AIPS and the Sports Writers Association for the honor.
Speakers including Qamar Zaman, Azhar Ali Shah, and Asim Shiraz congratulated him and described his selection as a proud moment for the country. They noted that his professionalism and tireless efforts have brought recognition to Pakistan on the international stage and serve as an inspiration for aspiring journalists.
