Rising pitcher Trey Yesavage delivered another composed performance for the Toronto Blue Jays, throwing four solid innings of one-run baseball against the Minnesota Twins on Sunday in just his second outing of the 2026 season. Despite allowing four hits and issuing three walks, the young right-hander showed resilience under pressure, limiting the damage effectively and continuing to build momentum early in the campaign. The only run conceded came in the opening inning, when Victor Caratini drove in a run with a single to right field, but Yesavage quickly settled into rhythm thereafter, displaying strong command and composure on the mound.

The outing was not without tense moments, particularly in the third inning when the Twins loaded the bases with two outs, threatening to extend their lead. However, Yesavage rose to the occasion, striking out Royce Lewis on a full-count fastball to escape the jam and keep the deficit at just one run. Over the course of his appearance, he recorded six strikeouts and threw 52 of his 82 pitches for strikes, underlining his growing confidence and ability to perform under pressure at the major league level.

At the time of his departure, Toronto trailed 1-0, despite an early exit from Twins starter Joe Ryan, who left the game in the first inning due to an elbow issue. Yesavage’s performance followed an impressive season debut earlier in the week against the Boston Red Sox, where he delivered 5.1 scoreless innings. With Sunday’s effort, his earned run average now stands at an impressive 0.73, alongside nine strikeouts across 9.1 innings pitched, highlighting his strong start to the season and potential as a key contributor for the Blue Jays’ rotation.

Toronto will now look ahead as they prepare to face the Tampa Bay Rays in their next series, following the conclusion of their matchup at Target Field in Minneapolis. As the team transitions into the next phase of the schedule, Yesavage’s early performances offer encouragement for a pitching staff seeking consistency and depth in a competitive American League season.
