The race for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is heating up, with all 48 teams now confirmed for the global tournament set to be hosted across Canada, United States and Mexico. As anticipation builds, a leading supercomputer model has revealed its prediction for the eventual winner, placing Spain national football team at the top of the list.

According to the model, Spain holds a 16.02 percent chance of lifting the trophy, marking a strong resurgence for a team that last won the World Cup in 2010. Powered by emerging stars like Lamine Yamal and Pedri, Spain has re-established itself among the elite in international football.

Close behind Spain is France national football team, which has been given a 12.54 percent chance of winning. France has consistently performed at the highest level, reaching multiple finals in recent years and remaining one of the most balanced squads in the competition.

England national football team sits third with a 10.66 percent probability. Despite not winning the World Cup since 1966, England continues to boast a deep and talented squad capable of making a serious run.

Defending champions Argentina national football team are also among the favourites, with a 10.09 percent chance of retaining their title. Argentina will aim to become the first team since Brazil in 1962 to successfully defend the World Cup crown.

Other contenders include Portugal national football team and Brazil national football team, both hovering around seven percent, along with Germany national football team. Dark horse teams such as Netherlands national football team and Norway national football team could also spring surprises.

Among the host nations, Mexico national football team has the strongest projected chance at 1.74 percent, followed by the United States men’s national soccer team and Canada men’s national soccer team.

While the supercomputer offers a data-driven outlook, the unpredictability of football ensures that surprises are always possible. With global stars, emerging talent and intense competition, the 2026 World Cup promises to be one of the most exciting tournaments in history.
