Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has officially announced the Umrah season calendar for 1448 AH, outlining key dates and operational milestones for pilgrims arriving from outside the kingdom.

The ministry said the calendar is part of ongoing efforts to provide an integrated system of services and digital solutions aimed at improving the overall experience for Umrah pilgrims.

Umrah Permits and Entry to Begin June 1

According to the newly released schedule, pilgrims holding valid Umrah visas will be permitted to enter Mecca and obtain Umrah permits beginning on June 1, 2026.

Visa issuance for international pilgrims will start on May 31, 2026, corresponding to 14 Dhu Al Hijjah 1447 AH.

Preparations Started in March

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah said preparations for the new season began several months earlier.

Key milestones include:

  • March 4, 2026: Preliminary agreements between Umrah companies and overseas agents
  • March 30, 2026: Umrah and Ziyarah Forum and signing of initial agreements
  • May 5, 2026: Preparatory meetings for the 1448 AH season
  • May 11, 2026: Qualification and final contracting of external agents

Service provider contracts and travel packages are currently being finalized through the ministry’s electronic platform.

Important Deadlines for 2027

The calendar also sets the final deadlines for the 1448 AH Umrah season:

  • March 9, 2027: Last date to issue Umrah visas
  • March 23, 2027: Final date for pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia
  • April 7, 2027: Deadline for all pilgrims to depart the kingdom

Digital Services to Improve Pilgrim Experience

The ministry said the new schedule reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to simplify procedures and enhance operational efficiency through advanced digital systems and integrated services.

Each year, millions of Muslims from around the world travel to Mecca to perform Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage that can be undertaken at any time of the year.

Saudi authorities continue to expand and modernize services to ensure pilgrims receive high-quality support from the time they apply for visas until they complete their spiritual journey.
