A vibrant celebration of music and cultural fusion is set to take Calgary by storm as the much-anticipated “Rock On” concert arrives at The Polaris Theatre on Friday, April 24. Blending contemporary rock with classical and South Asian musical traditions, the event promises an unforgettable evening of live performances, artistic collaboration, and international talent.

Headlining the show is acclaimed guitarist Johnny B, whose commanding stage presence and expressive guitar work have made him a standout performer in live music circuits. The event’s dynamic visual identity reflects his energy, setting the tone for a night dedicated to rhythm, creativity, and connection.

The concert features a rich lineup of accomplished musicians. Vasu Bisht will bring melodic depth with his flute, skillfully bridging classical and modern sounds. Sairus Gill adds a traditional rhythmic backbone through the tabla, while Kavitha Jayaram is expected to deliver powerful and emotive vocals. On percussion, Daniel Devost will energize the stage with driving beats, complemented by Raj Kamal, whose versatility on keyboard will unify the ensemble’s diverse musical elements.

Adding significant international flavor to the evening are special guest performers from Pakistan, further elevating the event’s cultural depth. Among them is Sameer Ahmed, an accomplished artist known for his collaborations with some of Pakistan’s most iconic singers. Over the years, Sameer Ahmed has performed alongside legendary names such as Atif Aslam, Nazia Hassan, Zoheb Hassan, members of the pioneering band Vital Signs, Ali Haider, the legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and Shehzad Roy. His presence brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to South Asian musical heritage.

Joining him is renowned guitarist Shalom Xavier, widely respected for his work with leading Pakistani artists and bands. Known for his technical brilliance and adaptability across genres, Shalom Xavier has shared the stage with several iconic performers, contributing to both live concerts and studio productions. His inclusion in the lineup adds a layer of musical sophistication and international prestige to the event.

Scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM, with doors opening at 6:45 PM, the concert emphasizes a fully live band experience—something increasingly valued in today’s digital music era. The organizers have curated the event to ensure authenticity, allowing audiences to experience music in its most organic and powerful form.

Beyond entertainment, “Rock On” reflects Calgary’s evolving cultural landscape, where diverse communities come together through the universal language of music. The collaboration between local talent and internationally recognized artists highlights the city’s role as a growing hub for multicultural artistic expression.

With its compelling lineup, cross-cultural performances, and high-energy atmosphere, the “Rock On” concert is poised to become one of Calgary’s standout musical events of the season. Audiences can expect not just a concert, but a celebration of global music, unity, and artistic excellence.
