A 45 year old Quebec City man has been arrested and charged after police alleged that he made threats against Prime Minister Mark Carney and posted material promoting hatred on social media.

The RCMP identified the accused as Ousmane Bah. According to police, Bah faces charges of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and promoting hatred against an identifiable group.

Investigators allege that the comments were posted through Bah’s Facebook account.

The RCMP said its investigation began on July 6 after authorities became aware of the social media activity. Bah appeared before a court in Quebec City on Sept. 24 and was ordered to remain in custody until his next court appearance, scheduled for Oct. 1.

According to police, Bah published a series of posts during the summer that included what investigators described as a personal grievance against the prime minister, along with repeated derogatory references to white people.

The case also follows a previous dispute involving Bah and the Quebec government.

A federal court ruling issued in July described how Bah lost his Quebec government job in March 2025 after his employer raised concerns about alleged misconduct and statements he had made. The ruling noted that some of his statements included references to an alleged plot involving the prime minister.

Bah later challenged a decision concerning his eligibility for employment insurance benefits, but his claim was unsuccessful.

The charges against Bah come amid several recent police investigations involving alleged threats against Prime Minister Carney.

Earlier this month, RCMP officers in Alberta arrested a Calgary man who was accused of making threats to kill the prime minister.

In March, police in Manitoba arrested 55 year old Jason Paul Rindall in connection with allegations involving threats against Carney and accusations related to promoting hatred.

Another Quebec resident, Montreal man Marc André Porlier, was charged in August after police alleged that he made death threats against Carney and Canadian police officers.

The RCMP has emphasized that criminal allegations remain allegations unless proven in court.

Bah’s case is expected to return before the court on Oct. 1, when proceedings will determine the next stage of the case.
