Pakistan Canada Association to Host Community Meet-and-Greet with Consul General Shahzad Hussain in Calgary

CALGARY, AB — The Pakistan Canada Association (PCA) Calgary is set to host a community meet-and-greet with Shahzad Hussain, Consul General of Pakistan in Vancouver, providing members of the Pakistani-Canadian community an opportunity to engage directly with Pakistan’s senior diplomatic representative responsible for consular affairs in Western Canada.

The event will take place on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 6 p.m. at PCA Hall, 507–509, 4656 Westwinds Drive NE, Calgary, Alberta.

The gathering is being organized as an opportunity for members of the Pakistani community to meet the Consul General, discuss matters of importance to Pakistanis living in Canada and learn more about the consular services available through the Consulate General of Pakistan in Vancouver.

According to the information released by the PCA, the evening will include introductory remarks by Consul General Hussain followed by a question-and-answer session. Community members will have an opportunity to raise questions, share concerns and discuss issues affecting Pakistanis and Pakistani-Canadians in Alberta.

The Vancouver-based Consulate General has jurisdiction over Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories and Yukon, making engagement with communities in Calgary and other Western Canadian cities an important part of its outreach. The consulate provides a range of services, including passports, visas, NICOP/POC matters, document attestation, child registration and other consular assistance.

Shahzad Hussain has served as Consul General of Pakistan in Vancouver since June 2025. According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 2005 and has held a number of diplomatic and administrative positions during his career. His previous assignments included diplomatic postings in Kuwait, Madrid and Kuala Lumpur, while at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad he worked in areas including China and Southeast Asia-Pacific affairs, protocol, the Middle East Division, audit and crisis management.

Hussain holds master’s degrees in English and International Relations from the University of Peshawar and also speaks Spanish.

The Calgary meeting is expected to provide community members with a direct forum to raise practical questions concerning consular services and to exchange views with the Consul General. Such meetings can also strengthen communication between diplomatic representatives and the Pakistani diaspora, particularly in Alberta, where a large Pakistani-Canadian community is based.

PCA President Azhar Hunjra and General Secretary Noman Mushtaq have encouraged members of the Pakistani community to attend the gathering and participate in the discussion.

The Pakistan Canada Association Calgary is inviting community members to come prepared with questions and concerns they would like to discuss during the question-and-answer session. The organizers said community participation and engagement will be important to making the event successful.

The meeting will be held at PCA Hall in northeast Calgary beginning at 6 p.m. on September 4.
