A nomination meeting of the Alberta New Democratic Party was held today at the Genesis Centre in Calgary under the presidency of provincial leader Naheed Nenshi. The event was attended by a large number of community members, party supporters, and local leaders, demonstrating strong enthusiasm ahead of the upcoming provincial election.

During the meeting, it was officially announced that Irfan Sabir, Parmeet Boparai, and Gurinder Brar will recontest the next election as NDP candidates from their respective constituencies. All three candidates addressed the gathering and expressed gratitude to the party leadership and community members for their continued trust and support.

Irfan Sabir highlighted his work in advocating for accessible healthcare, affordable housing, and community development, stating that he remains committed to serving the people of his constituency with dedication. Parmeet Boparai emphasized the importance of education, youth engagement, and public safety, noting that he aims to bring practical solutions to everyday challenges faced by families. Gurinder Brar spoke about strengthening local businesses, improving infrastructure, and ensuring inclusive growth for all residents.

In his keynote speech, Naheed Nenshi outlined the party’s policy direction for the upcoming election. He stressed priorities such as reducing the cost of living, investing in public healthcare and education, and creating sustainable economic opportunities. Nenshi reaffirmed the NDP’s commitment to fairness, inclusivity, and accountable governance, adding that the party stands for all Albertans regardless of background.
