A major community-focused mental health awareness event is set to take place in Calgary, bringing together individuals, families, and local organizations in support of emotional well-being and social connection.
The second annual MDI Mental Health Walk will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Island, specifically at Confluence Plaza. Known for its scenic environment and accessibility, the venue provides an ideal setting for a gathering centered on reflection, support, and community engagement.
Organized by MDI International, the event is designed to create a welcoming space where people can come together to raise awareness about mental health and encourage open conversations. Participants are invited to walk, connect, and stand in solidarity with those facing mental health challenges, reinforcing the message that no one has to struggle alone. The event is free and open to all ages, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity and family participation.
This year’s walk is supported by a diverse group of community partners and sponsors, highlighting a united effort to address mental health at the grassroots level. Supporting organizations include Community Care Collective, Al Madinah Calgary Islamic Assembly, Islamic Relief Canada, IDRF (International Development and Relief Foundation), and All Sports Alberta Foundation. Their involvement reflects a collaborative commitment to fostering awareness, compassion, and access to support networks.
The initiative comes at a time when mental health continues to be a growing concern across Canadian communities. Events like this play a crucial role in breaking stigma, promoting dialogue, and encouraging individuals to seek help and support one another. By combining physical activity with meaningful interaction, the walk aims to create a positive and lasting impact on participants.
With its focus on unity, awareness, and community care, the MDI Mental Health Walk is expected to draw a strong turnout and further strengthen Calgary’s ongoing efforts to prioritize mental well-being and social connection.
