We have charged a man in relation to an incident that led to an officer-involved shooting in the southwest community of Bridlewood on Thursday.
At approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, we were called to the 1000 block of Bridlemeadows Manor S.W. for reports of a disturbance involving a man with a weapon.
By the time of officer arrival, the man had entered a residence. After some time, officers engaged him and utilized tactics while attempting to take him into custody. Approximately two hours after the initial call to police, the man exited the residence and a confrontation occurred, which resulted in one officer discharging their Service firearm.
The suspect was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition.
The officer-involved shooting remains under investigation with the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT).
As a result of the investigation into the events leading up to the shooting, Danny MARTIN, 36, has been charged with four counts of assault of a peace officer with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and four counts of failure to comply with conditions of a release order.
