Fatal collision on Tsuut’ina Trail under investigation

Our Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred last night in southwest Calgary.

Our Traffic Unit is investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred last night in southwest Calgary.

At approximately 8 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am, driven by a man in his 20s, was travelling southbound on Tsuut’ina Trail S.W., approaching 90th Avenue S.W., when the vehicle left the roadway and struck the concrete base of a sign pole.

First responders extricated the driver from the vehicle and transported him to hospital, where he later died. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

Speed and impairment are not believed to be factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing.

So far in 2026, there have been 18 fatal collisions, resulting in 22 fatalities.
