Man in His 20s Dies After Rollover Crash on 84 Street S.E.

Calgary police are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.

According to authorities, shortly after 2:30 a.m., a 2014 BMW was travelling northbound on 84 Street S.E. As the vehicle approached the 7000 block, it left the roadway and rolled into a ditch on the west side of the street.

Investigators believe the vehicle continued to roll, crossing back over the roadway before coming to rest in a ditch on the east side of 84 Street S.E.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was ejected during the collision and pronounced dead at the scene. No other occupants were reported.

Police say speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Fifth Traffic Fatality of 2026

The collision marks the fifth traffic-related fatality in Calgary so far this year. Authorities continue to urge drivers to obey posted speed limits and exercise caution on city roads.

Calgary Police Service said it is working alongside The City of Calgary to advance the Safer Mobility Plan, which supports the Vision Zero initiative — a strategy aimed at eliminating traffic fatalities and serious injuries.

Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact police.
