Chicago Fire FC has announced a groundbreaking partnership with McDonald’s that will see the club’s new $750 million stadium officially named McDonald’s Park, marking the first time the iconic Chicago-based company has secured naming rights for a U.S. professional sports venue.

The state-of-the-art stadium, scheduled to open for the 2028 Major League Soccer season, will seat approximately 22,000 fans and be located in Chicago’s South Loop along the city’s riverfront. The venue is designed to become a major destination for soccer, concerts, and other large-scale events.

Historic partnership with Chicago roots

Chicago Fire owner Joe Mansueto described the agreement as a transformative moment for the club and the city.

“As we take the next step on our journey to build a world-class club, our commitment to Chicago is at the center of everything we do,” Mansueto said. “That’s why McDonald’s is the perfect partner—an iconic global brand with deep Chicago roots and shared values in supporting our community.”

McDonald’s Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski said the partnership is about much more than branding.

“Together, we are creating more than a stadium. We are building a place that serves up joy, brings together community, delivers impact, and is designed to serve generations to come.”

Unique feature: permanent flagship McDonald’s restaurant

A distinctive element of the deal is the inclusion of a permanent flagship McDonald’s restaurant inside the stadium complex, giving fans year-round access to one of the world’s most recognizable brands.

The company, valued at roughly $195 billion, will also become the presenting partner of the club’s P.L.A.Y.S. Program beginning in 2027. The initiative delivers soccer-based educational programming to students in more than 70 Chicago public schools.

In addition, Ronald McDonald House Charities will support community outreach and charitable programs as part of the broader partnership.

New stadium to redefine Chicago soccer

McDonald’s Park is expected to become one of the premier soccer-specific stadiums in North America. With modern training facilities, premium seating, and a dramatic skyline backdrop, the venue reflects Chicago Fire’s ambition to establish itself among the continent’s elite clubs.

The project also strengthens Chicago’s growing reputation as a global soccer destination, especially following the momentum generated by the 2026 FIFA World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Future of Soldier Field remains uncertain

The Fire currently play at Soldier Field, but the club will move permanently to McDonald’s Park once construction is completed.

Soldier Field’s long-term future is uncertain as the Chicago Bears continue to explore relocation options, including potential moves to Arlington Heights, Illinois, or Hammond, Indiana.

Chicago officials are considering a $630 million redevelopment plan to transform Soldier Field into a major entertainment and concert venue if the Bears leave.

Major milestone for Chicago Fire

For Chicago Fire, the McDonald’s agreement represents a significant financial and symbolic victory. It secures a globally recognized corporate partner, reinforces the club’s ties to the city, and provides momentum as the organization prepares for a new era.

When McDonald’s Park opens in 2028, it will not only serve as the permanent home of Chicago Fire FC but also stand as one of the most prominent and innovative sports partnerships in American soccer history.
