Celebrate Canada Day across downtown Calgary with expanded locations and all-day festivities

Come together on July 1 for a free, family-friendly Canada Day celebration across downtown Calgary, with more ways than ever to gather, explore and celebrate together.

This year, The City of Calgary’s Canada Day celebration invites people to move through downtown, experiencing live performances, cultural activities and all-day fun across parks, plazas and riverfront spaces. Festivities will take place at Prince’s Island Park, Eau Claire Plaza, Sien Lok Park, the Municipal Building, Harry Hays green space, East Village and The Confluence Historic Site & Parkland.

The Canada Day 2026 celebration features an Indigenous spotlight and powwow, the Cultural Carousel, performances, live music, face painting, food trucks and more. The celebration brings together art, music and cultural experiences that highlight the many traditions and stories that shape our vibrant city and our country.

“Canada Day is about coming together, and this year we’re inviting people to experience that spirit across downtown Calgary,” says Kristina Timms, event coordinator with The City of Calgary. “From activities and performances to the fireworks finale, we want people to come out, spend time together and enjoy a shared day of celebration, with each location offering a unique experience.”

Live music and main stage

New this year, the Canada Day main stage will be located at Prince’s Island Park, where it will come alive with a full afternoon and evening of live music showcasing Canadian talent across genres.

Kicking off at 2 p.m., the 2026 lineup features Michela Sheedy, Micah Sage, Jamie Fine, Kardinal Offishall and Tia Wood, leading into a high-energy finale by Walk off the Earth, who will close out the night as this year’s headliner.

Fireworks and where to watch

The celebration concludes with a fireworks show above Stampede Park at 11 p.m. To support safe viewing, the primary public viewing area will be the Max Bell Centre (1001 Barlow Trail S.E.) parking lot and surrounding green space.

The Max Bell Centre parking lot will be open for fireworks viewing only with no other activities on site. Amenities will include portable restrooms and additional waste and recycling bins to support large crowds.

Parking at Max Bell Centre is limited. Attendees are encouraged to plan ahead and consider walking or taking transit, with Franklin LRT Station and Barlow/Max Bell LRT Station both within walking distance of the viewing area.

Getting around on Canada Day

Get around easily using the new free Canada Day shuttle, running continuously on July 1 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. between Eau Claire and East Village, with service approximately every 15 minutes.
