Calgary Week Returns with More Than 90 Events Celebrating the City’s Rich Heritage

Calgary is preparing to celebrate its past with the return of Historic Calgary Week, a citywide festival featuring more than 90 events designed to explore the communities, cultures and stories that have shaped the city over the decades.

The annual celebration will bring together historians, community organizations, volunteers and residents for a diverse program of guided walks, presentations, cultural activities and interactive events aimed at preserving and sharing Calgary’s unique history.

Organizers say this year’s program offers something for everyone, from long-time history enthusiasts to families and newcomers interested in learning more about the city’s heritage. The schedule includes educational talks, neighbourhood tours, historical exhibits and opportunities to discover lesser-known chapters of Calgary’s development.

One of the featured attractions is a history trivia night at the King Eddy, where participants will test their knowledge of Calgary’s past in a relaxed and entertaining setting. The event combines local history with community engagement, encouraging residents to explore historical facts through friendly competition.

The popular Reader Rock Garden will once again host historical tours focusing on the development of Calgary’s public gardens, landscaping traditions and conservation efforts that have preserved one of the city’s most cherished green spaces.

Another important stop during the week will be Calgary’s Chinese Cemetery, where guided tours will recognize the contributions of Chinese Canadians to the city’s development while sharing stories of early immigrants, community leaders and families whose lives became part of Calgary’s history.
