CALGARY – An 18-year-old man is facing multiple charges after police seized a significant quantity of drugs and several weapons during an arrest in the city’s downtown core earlier this week.
Officers were called to Dermot Baldwin Way S.E. in the East Village at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2026, after a member of the public reported behaviour believed to be consistent with drug trafficking. Police responded quickly and located the suspect in the area.
Following his arrest, officers conducted a search and discovered a range of drugs, weapons and related items concealed on the suspect and inside a duffel bag he was carrying.
Among the items seized were:
- 126.3 grams of fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $12,630
- 21.4 grams of methamphetamine, valued at approximately $428
- 147.7 grams of other drugs, estimated at $13,058
- Multiple knives
- A hatchet
- Brass knuckles
- Bear spray
- A collapsible baton
- A Browning Bar II rifle
- One live seven-millimetre round
- A scale
- $179 in cash
- Two cellphones
Investigators allege the quantity of drugs and the presence of a scale are consistent with trafficking activity.
Pride Kevin English-Bullcalf, 18, has been charged with numerous offences, including possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of other drugs for the purpose of trafficking, careless storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, multiple counts of carrying concealed weapons, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition, and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, Feb. 27, 2026.
District 1 Insp. Jason Bobrowich said police continue to work closely with community partners to address public safety concerns in real time. He credited members of the public for reporting suspicious activity and emphasized that cooperation plays a critical role in removing illegal drugs and weapons from city streets.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
