CALGARY, AB — September 4, 2026: The ANP Canada Alberta and Khudai Khidmatgar Organization Alberta are set to officially announce their new cricket teams for upcoming cricket tournaments in Calgary. The announcement will be made at a special community event aimed at bringing cricket players, supporters and community members together.
The event will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at West Wind Prairie Park Cricket Field, located at the south end of the park by 54 Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta.
According to the event organizers, the gathering will provide community members with an opportunity to meet the newly formed cricket players, learn more about the teams and view their new team kits ahead of their participation in upcoming cricket tournaments in Calgary.
A special guest at the event will be Ejaz Yousafzai, Salar-e-Azam of the Khudai Khidmatgar Organization, who will attend the program and meet players and community members.
The organizers said the formation of the cricket teams is intended not only to promote the sport but also to provide an opportunity for community members, particularly young people, to participate in healthy recreational and sporting activities. Cricket has a strong following among South Asian and Pashtun communities in Calgary, and the new teams are expected to contribute to greater participation and community engagement through sport.
The event will also give supporters an opportunity to interact directly with the players and organizers and to show their support for the teams as they prepare for future cricket competitions.
The program is being organized by Khadim Shah, Country Salar, Khudai Khidmatgar Organization, and Sher Akbar Khan, President, ANP Canada Alberta.
Community members and cricket enthusiasts are invited to attend the public gathering and participate in the team announcement. The organizers have encouraged friends, families and community members to join the event and support the players.
For further information, Khadim Shah can be contacted at 403-971-4527, while Sher Akbar Khan can be reached at 403-968-0024.
The event carries the message of “Unity, Service, Sacrifice” and emphasizes the organizers’ vision of working together to build a stronger community.
The organizers expect the cricket team announcement to be an important community gathering, combining sports, community participation and organizational activities while giving Calgary residents an opportunity to meet the new players and leadership of the participating organizations.
