MONTREAL: The halls of the Liberal Party Convention 2026 in Montreal were filled with energy, optimism, and renewed determination as thousands of delegates from across Canada gathered to shape the future of the party. Among them was Ontario-based barrister and community leader Najam Naqvi, who described the experience as both “amazing” and “rejuvenating.”

For Najam Naqvi, the convention was more than just a political gathering. It was an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues, meet new leaders, and strengthen people-to-people contact something he believes is essential for effective community engagement and political success.

Talking to reporters, Naqvi, who was a nominated Liberal Party candidate in the last general election, emphasized the importance of grassroots interaction. He noted that the convention provided a unique opportunity to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds who share a common goal of serving their communities.

Held in the second week of April, the Liberal Party of Canada’s National Convention brought together Members of Parliament, policy experts, grassroots organizers, and community leaders from across the country. The timing of the convention was particularly significant, following a strong electoral mandate under Prime Minister Mark Carney.

Walking through the busy corridors and discussion rooms, Naqvi participated in policy sessions, leadership presentations, and training workshops. Each interaction, he said, offered valuable insights and strengthened organizational ties.

“It was an amazing experience to meet caucus members and organizational leaders. This convention revived our organizational bonding and strengthened our commitment,” he remarked.

A major highlight of the convention was the extensive policy dialogue. Delegates discussed key national issues including healthcare reform, economic growth, artificial intelligence governance, and combating misinformation. These discussions reflected the party’s commitment to inclusive and participatory policymaking.

Naqvi also praised leadership presentations that outlined national and international policies and achievements. He particularly commended Prime Minister Mark Carney and his team for their performance and leadership.

“The presentations were insightful and inspiring. The leadership demonstrated strong governance and forward-thinking vision,” he said.

Beyond policy discussions, the convention also emphasized campaign readiness. Training sessions and strategic workshops equipped participants with modern campaign tools and organizational strategies. According to Naqvi, these sessions were both informative and thought-provoking.

Party leadership highlighted themes of economic strength, job creation, middle-class growth, and global competitiveness. Delegates from across provinces participated enthusiastically, reflecting growing momentum within the party.

Reflecting on his experience, Naqvi said the convention enhanced his organizational capabilities and strengthened his commitment to public service.

Following the successful election campaign that delivered a strong mandate, he noted that the convention would further strengthen the party’s commitment to serve Canadians and build stronger connections nationwide.

“It’s time to come together, to be bold, and to build. This convention was an important milestone to shape the future of our party and our country,” Najam Naqvi concluded.

As the convention ended, delegates departed Montreal with renewed energy, fresh ideas, and stronger connections. For leaders like Najam Naqvi, the convention was not just an event — it was a meaningful step toward strengthening communities and shaping Canada’s future.
