British actor and filmmaker Noel Clarke has been charged with six sexual offences following allegations involving five women, according to prosecutors.

The charges include two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure. Authorities say the alleged incidents took place between 2007 and 2016.

Clarke, 50, is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 21.

The charges follow a police investigation that began in September 2025 into allegations of sexual misconduct involving the actor.

Prosecutors said they reviewed the available evidence before determining that there was sufficient basis to bring the case before a court and that prosecution was in the public interest.

Bethan David, deputy chief crown prosecutor for London, said the charges followed allegations made by five women concerning alleged sexual misconduct over a period of several years.

She said prosecutors had worked closely with Metropolitan Police investigators throughout the investigation.

Police said the women connected to the case continue to receive support from specially trained officers.

Detective Superintendent Mike Cagney encouraged anyone who believes they have been the victim of sexual assault to contact police, emphasizing that information provided to investigators would be handled sensitively.

The case is now before the courts, and prosecutors have stressed that Clarke is entitled to a fair trial.

Authorities have also warned members of the public and media organizations against publishing or circulating material that could interfere with the legal proceedings.

The warning is particularly relevant to information shared online, where speculation or commentary about allegations can potentially affect active court cases.

The charges represent a significant development in a long running controversy surrounding Clarke.

He is widely known for his work as an actor, writer and filmmaker. Among his best known roles was his appearance in Doctor Who, while he also gained recognition for writing and starring in Kidulthood.

Kidulthood explored the lives of young people in London and dealt with difficult subjects including bullying, drug use, violence and social pressures.

Clarke’s career has also included work behind the camera, making him a prominent figure in British film and television.

The latest criminal proceedings concern alleged conduct dating back many years. The allegations are now subject to the criminal justice process, where prosecutors will have to establish their case and Clarke will have the opportunity to defend himself.

Being charged does not mean that Clarke has been found guilty of any offence. The allegations remain matters to be determined by the court.

The proceedings will therefore focus on the evidence surrounding each of the six charges and whether the prosecution can establish the required elements of the alleged offences beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case is expected to attract considerable public attention because of Clarke’s profile in British entertainment and the serious nature of the allegations.

For the women involved, the investigation has already involved a lengthy process, with specially trained officers continuing to provide support as the case moves toward court.

The next major development will come when Clarke appears before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 21.

Until then, prosecutors have urged caution over public discussion of the case, stressing the importance of protecting the integrity of the legal process and Clarke’s right to a fair trial.
