Ireland Shock World Champions India to Record Historic First Ever T20I Victory

Ireland produced one of the biggest upsets in international cricket by defeating world champions India by 34 runs in the opening match of their two match T20 International series at Stormont, Belfast. Ireland’s bowling unit consistently maintained pressure through accurate lines, disciplined lengths and outstanding fielding, ensuring India never recovered after losing wickets at regular intervals.

Speaking after the match, captain Lorcan Tucker praised his teammates for producing a complete team performance while quickly shifting his focus toward the remaining match of the series.

Tucker described the victory as a special moment for Irish cricket and credited every member of the squad for their discipline and commitment throughout the contest. He also praised the debutants, saying they displayed tremendous composure and executed their skills with confidence against one of the strongest batting lineups in world cricket.

Matt Hollard described his international debut as a dream come true after producing one of the finest bowling performances by an Irish debutant against a major cricket nation.
