India’s Aryaveer Dewan Wins U19 Title at Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships 2026

Aryaveer Dewan created history after winning the boys’ Under-19 title at the 2026 Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships held in Panzhihua.

The 17-year-old Indian squash star defeated Jonghyeok Lee of the South Korea in straight games 3-0 (11-2, 11-7, 11-9) in the final, which lasted 58 minutes.

With the victory, Aryaveer became only the fourth Indian player to win the prestigious boys’ U19 crown at the continental championships.

Before him, the feat had been achieved by Ravi Dixit in 2010, Velavan Senthilkumar in 2016, and Veer Chotrani in 2019.

India enjoyed an impressive overall campaign at the championships, finishing with one gold medal, three silver medals, and four bronze medals across various age categories.

In the boys’ U17 final, Shiven Agarwal secured a silver medal after losing to Pakistan’s Nauman Khan in four games. Shiven won the opening game before going down 3-1 (12-10, 7-11, 2-11, 5-11).

India’s Anika Dubey also claimed silver in the girls’ U17 category after a tough battle against Malaysia’s Harleein Tan. Harleein won the final 3-1 (11-9, 4-11, 10-12, 4-11).

The third silver medal for India came through Amarya Bajaj in the boys’ U13 event. He narrowly lost a thrilling five-game final to Leung Ngo San of Hong Kong 3-2 (11-5, 11-8, 9-11, 10-12, 6-11).

India’s bronze medal winners included Lokesh Subramani in boys’ U17, Abhyuday Arora in boys’ U13, and Shanaya Parasrampuria along with Divyanshi Jain in the girls’ U13 category.

Aryaveer Dewan has now continued his remarkable rise in junior squash after winning the boys’ U17 title at the 2025 Asian Junior Individual Squash Championships in Gimcheon.

Indian squash has been gaining global attention ahead of the sport’s historic debut at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where squash will feature for the first time in Olympic history.
