Airdrie, Alberta (April 17, 2026) — A coordinated enforcement operation in Airdrie has led to the arrest of 11 fugitives and the execution of more than 20 warrants, highlighting intensified efforts to target high-risk offenders.

The joint operation, carried out on April 14 and 15, involved the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Crime Reduction Unit and the Alberta Sheriffs fugitive apprehension team. Officers conducted coordinated investigations and enforcement actions across the city aimed at locating individuals wanted on outstanding warrants.

Authorities confirmed that 11 individuals were taken into custody during the operation. Among them was a suspect from British Columbia who was wanted on 17 separate charges. In total, officers executed 21 warrants, several of which were tied to serious offences, including sexual assault, assault, criminal harassment, and firearms-related crimes.

Staff Sgt. Steve Browne of the Airdrie RCMP described the operation as highly effective, emphasizing the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing crime and ensuring offenders are held accountable.

Alberta Sheriffs Inspector Darren Thompson echoed that sentiment, noting that strong partnerships between law enforcement agencies play a crucial role in identifying and targeting individuals who pose significant risks to public safety.

Officials say the operation reflects a continued commitment to collaborative policing strategies aimed at reducing crime and improving community safety across the region.
