Man in critical condition after early morning shooting in SE Calgary

A man is in life-threatening condition after a targeted early morning shooting in southeast Calgary, police say.

A man is in life-threatening condition following a shooting in southeast Calgary early Friday morning, according to Calgary Police Service.

Emergency crews were called to the area near 100 Ellisborough Park S.E. in the Red Carpet Calgary community at approximately 4:45 a.m. after reports of gunfire.

Police say the victim was found with serious injuries and transported to hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted and have indicated there is no ongoing risk to the public. Officers remained at the scene for several hours as they collected evidence and worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No information about suspects has been released at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
