Calgary — Police in Calgary say two men are facing a combined 67 criminal charges following a coordinated investigation into a series of break-ins that targeted local businesses earlier this year, resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in losses and the seizure of firearms, drugs and stolen property.

According to the Calgary Police Service, the incidents occurred between Jan. 3 and Jan. 21, 2026, when seven commercial properties — including gaming, electronics and liquidation stores — were hit in what investigators described as a pattern of smash-and-grab break-ins. Offenders allegedly forced entry by smashing storefronts, causing extensive property damage before stealing items such as gaming cards, electronics and knives. The total financial impact, including damage and stolen goods, is estimated at approximately $30,000.

The investigation was led by the District 4 Break and Enter Team, which linked the incidents to the same suspects through evidence gathered at multiple scenes. On Feb. 11, officers executed a search warrant at a residence in northeast Calgary, where they uncovered a large cache of stolen and illegal items.

Police say the search resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of gaming cards along with three firearms, including a prohibited handgun, a sawed-off shotgun and a rifle. Officers also recovered an extended magazine and a conducted energy weapon, commonly known as a taser. In addition, investigators seized drugs with an estimated street value of $35,000, including fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine and psilocybin.

The operation also uncovered three stolen vehicles, three stolen bicycles, a stolen licence plate and 31 pieces of government-issued identification believed to have been obtained unlawfully. Authorities further located multiple vehicle keys, devices used to duplicate key fobs and equipment capable of producing fraudulent documents, suggesting a broader pattern of criminal activity linked to identity theft and property crime.

Two Calgary men have now been formally charged. Chad Snider, 38, faces 49 counts, including offences related to firearms possession, drug trafficking, possession of stolen property, break and enter, identity document offences and breaching court-imposed conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 17, 2026. Coady Philip MacIntyre, 37, is facing 18 charges, including break and enter, disguise with intent and failure to comply with release conditions, with a court appearance set for April 13, 2026.

Police officials say the arrests mark a significant step in addressing a series of crimes that disrupted local businesses and raised safety concerns. Investigators credit coordinated police work and evidence analysis for identifying the suspects and recovering property, while also removing weapons and drugs from circulation.

Authorities say the investigation remains a reminder of the interconnected nature of property crime, drug trafficking and illegal weapons possession, and they continue to urge businesses and the public to report suspicious activity to help prevent similar incidents.
