A large number of Pakistani Canadians gathered in Calgary to commemorate Pakistan Resolution Day on 23 March in a community event organized by the Pakistan Canada Cultural Association at Horizon Mall. The event brought together families, youth, and elders, reflecting a strong sense of unity and cultural pride among overseas Pakistanis.

The event was led by community organizers Tanveer Taj and Asjad Bukhari, with the support of a dedicated group of volunteers who ensured smooth arrangements throughout the program. Attendees participated enthusiastically, with many dressed in green and white, symbolizing their connection to Pakistan.

Pakistan Resolution Day marks the historic adoption of the Lahore Resolution in 1940, when Muslim leaders of the subcontinent formally demanded a separate homeland. Under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the platform of the All-India Muslim League, the resolution laid the foundation for the eventual creation of Pakistan in 1947. The day holds deep significance for Pakistanis worldwide, symbolizing unity, faith, and determination.

The Calgary gathering featured a variety of cultural activities that added energy and engagement to the event. National songs were played and performed, creating an atmosphere of patriotism and pride among attendees. Children actively participated in the program through performances, recitations, and small stage presentations, which were warmly appreciated by the audience. Special segments were arranged for young participants, encouraging them to connect with their heritage and express their identity with confidence.

During the event, speakers highlighted the importance of remembering the sacrifices of the founding generation and preserving cultural identity while living abroad. They emphasized that events like these strengthen community bonds and help younger generations understand their heritage.

In their remarks, speakers noted that the spirit of 23 March continues to inspire Pakistanis to remain united and committed to progress. They encouraged parents to pass on the values of respect, tolerance, and hard work to their children so that they can contribute positively to both Pakistan and Canada.

Organizers were appreciated for their efforts in bringing the community together. Participants acknowledged that such events not only celebrate history but also create a sense of belonging among Pakistani Canadians living far from their homeland.

The gathering concluded with a renewed sense of pride and commitment, as attendees expressed their dedication to upholding the ideals that led to the creation of Pakistan while actively engaging in the multicultural fabric of Canadian society.
