Red Deer RCMP Arrest 43 People and Execute 126 Warrants in Two Day Enforcement Operation

Red Deer RCMP carried out an intensive enforcement operation over two days, resulting in 43 arrests and the execution of 126 outstanding arrest warrants, as police continue targeted efforts to locate individuals wanted on criminal and court related matters.

The enforcement activity took place between August 26 and 27 as members of the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team conducted a focused warrant round up across the city.

Police said the operation was part of an intelligence led approach designed to identify and apprehend individuals who pose ongoing concerns for community safety. Officers worked to locate people wanted on outstanding warrants while also responding to violations of release, probation and parole conditions.

According to police, the two day operation demonstrated the continued focus of the Crime Reduction Team on targeted enforcement.

The team said it remains committed to using intelligence and investigative information to determine where enforcement resources can have the greatest impact on public safety.

Among those arrested was a 37 year old Red Deer resident who was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for allegedly breaching parole conditions. Officers located and arrested the individual in the West Park area.

Another arrest involved a 20 year old Red Deer man who attracted police attention after riding a bicycle in the middle of a roadway without lights.

The man allegedly fled when officers attempted to stop him. Police later located him and discovered that he was carrying an imitation firearm in the form of a BB gun as well as imitation brass knuckles.

Police also determined that the man was allegedly violating several conditions associated with his probation and release orders.

The arrests came as part of broader enforcement work involving both Red Deer RCMP and Alberta Sheriffs.

In the weeks leading up to the main warrant operation, members of the RCMP Crime Reduction Team worked with the Alberta Sheriff Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team to locate individuals wanted on serious outstanding warrants.

Earlier in August, the Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team arrested a 30 year old individual who was wanted on a Canada wide warrant for allegedly breaching parole conditions.

Police also carried out a search warrant on August 19 in Red Deer’s Glendale neighbourhood. During that operation, officers arrested a 37 year old resident who was reportedly the subject of 10 outstanding warrants.

The latest enforcement activity reflects a continuing effort by police and provincial enforcement agencies to locate people who are wanted by the justice system and to address repeat offending and breaches of court imposed conditions.

The execution of 126 warrants in only two days represents a significant level of enforcement activity for the Red Deer RCMP. While not every warrant necessarily relates to the same type of offence, outstanding warrants can involve a wide range of matters, including failures to appear in court, breaches of release conditions, probation violations and parole related offences.

Police have increasingly emphasized intelligence based policing as a way of concentrating resources on individuals and locations identified as presenting higher risks to public safety.

The Crime Reduction Team plays an important role in this approach by conducting targeted investigations and enforcement operations rather than relying solely on routine patrol activity.

Red Deer RCMP said the recent arrests are part of its broader commitment to keeping the community safe and holding individuals accountable when they fail to comply with legal obligations.

The operation also highlights the cooperation between municipal police officers and Alberta Sheriffs in locating individuals wanted across jurisdictions.

For residents, the large number of arrests and warrants executed over a short period provides an indication of the scale of ongoing efforts to address outstanding criminal justice matters in Red Deer.

Police have not indicated that the 43 arrests were connected to a single investigation. Instead, the enforcement operation appears to have brought together several outstanding warrants and targeted cases identified through police intelligence and investigative work.
