Chinese Professor Praises China Window Peshawar for Promoting Chinese Culture and Pak-China Friendship

PESHAWAR: Professor Zhang Naiwen of Yunnan Normal University has visited China Window, a Chinese cultural and information centre in Peshawar, and praised its efforts to promote Chinese culture, strengthen Pakistan-China friendship and build closer people-to-people ties between the two countries.

During his visit, Professor Zhang toured various galleries at China Window and was briefed on the centre’s cultural, educational and public diplomacy activities. He took keen interest in photographs, displays and exhibitions highlighting China’s history, culture, traditions, tourism and development, as well as the longstanding friendship between Pakistan and China.

Appreciating the way Chinese culture has been presented at the centre, Professor Zhang said initiatives such as China Window provide Pakistani visitors with an opportunity to develop a better understanding of China, its people and its rich cultural heritage.

“This is our first visit to China Window in Peshawar, and we feel that Chinese culture has been presented here in a very organised and impressive manner,” Professor Zhang said.

He expressed particular appreciation for the fact that the centre had been established and was being operated by a Pakistani, saying that the dedication and commitment shown towards introducing and promoting Chinese culture in Pakistan was deeply moving.

Professor Zhang expressed the hope that China Window would continue to grow and develop into an even stronger platform for cultural exchange and friendship between the two countries.

During his visit, Professor Zhang also interviewed China Window Administrator Amjad Aziz Malik. He asked about the establishment of the centre, the vision behind its creation and the various activities it has undertaken since its inception.

Amjad Aziz Malik briefed the visiting professor on China Window’s initiatives aimed at promoting cultural understanding, Chinese language learning, educational exchanges, youth engagement and greater interaction between the people of Pakistan and China.

Professor Zhang described China Window as a unique example of people-to-people diplomacy. He noted that the centre represents an unusual model in which a Chinese cultural and exhibition platform has been independently established and operated by people from outside China with the objective of promoting Chinese culture.

He said China Window had emerged as an important cultural and public-engagement platform in Pakistan and highlighted its potential to contribute to stronger cultural understanding between the two countries.

According to Professor Zhang, the dedication involved in establishing and sustaining such an institution reflects the affection and goodwill that exists among the Pakistani people towards China. He said the centre also demonstrates the strength of the long-standing relationship between Pakistan and China.

He expressed hope that China Window would continue expanding its activities and play an increasingly effective role in connecting the people of Pakistan and China through cultural exchange, education and public interaction.

Amjad Aziz Malik thanked Professor Zhang Naiwen for visiting China Window and said the centre would continue its efforts to promote mutual understanding, cultural exchange and people-to-people relations between Pakistan and China.

He said China Window would also continue developing programmes and activities aimed at introducing Chinese culture and strengthening the bonds of friendship between the two nations.
