Police seek public assistance in shooting investigation

District 1 members continue to investigate a shooting that occurred in the city’s downtown area earlier this morning that resulted in an injured bystander.

On Monday, July 13, 2026, at approximately 4:45 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired outside of the Red Room Lounge located at 314 3 St. S.E. Upon arrival, police located a woman in her 20s who had sustained a grazing injury. She was transported to hospital in non-life-threatening condition where she remains.

Investigators believe the incident occurred as the result of a physical altercation  between two men outside of the establishment, resulting in one of the men discharging a firearm and unintentionally injuring the woman.

It is believed approximately 100 to 150 people were in the area at the time of the incident and police are looking to speak with anyone who may have information in hopes of advancing the investigation.

“So far, only three people have chosen to come forward and speak with us,” says Staff Sergeant Mike Sushelnitsky of the District 1 General Investigations Unit. “Our efforts rely on strong community support, and we know there are other witnesses who are choosing not to come forward. We will not tolerate acts of senseless violence, especially when innocent bystanders are injured.”

This marks the 48^th shooting incident so far this year.
