Drugs, Firearms, Corvette and $40,000 Worth of Pokémon Cards Seized in Major Calgary-Area Police Operation

A major organized crime investigation in the Calgary region has resulted in the seizure of drugs, firearms, cash, a luxury sports car and nearly $40,000 worth of Pokémon trading cards, Alberta RCMP announced following a series of coordinated raids.

The operation was carried out on May 26 by Alberta RCMP’s Rural Organized Crime Team, supported by several law enforcement partners. Search warrants were executed at three residences in Calgary and one property in Airdrie as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

During the searches, investigators seized significant quantities of suspected illegal substances, including approximately 100 grams of cocaine, 3,586 grams of cannabis marijuana, one gram of methamphetamine and 22 tabs of LSD.

Police also recovered six firearms, including four restricted handguns, a rifle and a carbine. Authorities additionally seized a high-capacity 9-millimetre drum-style magazine, which is prohibited under Canadian firearms regulations.

Among the more unusual items confiscated during the investigation was a collection of Pokémon trading cards valued at nearly $40,000. Officers also seized a 2024 Chevrolet Corvette, more than $7,200 in cash and six cellular phones believed to be connected to the alleged criminal activity.

Investigators say the total value of the seized Pokémon cards was estimated at $39,781, highlighting the growing market value of collectible trading cards, which have increasingly become high-value assets sought by collectors and investors.

As a result of the investigation, three Calgary residents now face multiple criminal charges.

Thirty-six-year-old Kyle McIntyre faces the most extensive list of allegations, including five counts of trafficking a controlled substance. He has also been charged with several offences related to possession of proceeds of crime, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, possession of a firearm without a valid licence, and multiple prohibited device offences.

Brendon Ross-Henderson, 33, has been charged with two counts of trafficking a controlled substance and two counts of possession of proceeds of crime.

Meanwhile, 70-year-old David Chafe faces charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

Police say the investigation targeted individuals suspected of involvement in organized criminal activity and drug distribution within the region. Authorities have not disclosed whether additional arrests or charges are expected as the investigation continues.

McIntyre remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the courts on July 3. Ross-Henderson has been released under court-imposed conditions and is expected to appear in court on June 26. Chafe was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear on July 15.

RCMP officials say the operation demonstrates their continued efforts to disrupt organized crime networks and remove illegal drugs and firearms from Alberta communities.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police are encouraging anyone with information related to drug trafficking or organized criminal activity to contact law enforcement or Crime Stoppers.
