7th annual world religions conference Our Role in Global Peace

The 7th Annual World Religions Conference brought together representatives from various faith communities in Airdrie under the theme “Our Role in Global Peace.” Organized by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, the event welcomed participants from different religious and cultural backgrounds, including Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, and other faith traditions, with a shared commitment to promoting peace, understanding, and unity in society.

Speakers at the conference emphasized that despite differences in beliefs and traditions, all major religions teach values centered on compassion, humanity, respect, justice, and peaceful coexistence. Religious leaders highlighted that Islam promotes peace, mercy, and respect for humanity, while Christianity teaches love, forgiveness, and care for others. Representatives from the Sikh community spoke about equality, selfless service, and standing for justice and harmony.

Hindu speakers discussed the importance of non-violence, tolerance, and spiritual harmony, while Jewish representatives emphasized peace, human dignity, and mutual respect among communities. Buddhist participants shared teachings about compassion, mindfulness, and inner peace as pathways toward a peaceful society. Other faith representatives also stressed that religion should unite people rather than divide them.

The conference encouraged open dialogue among communities and focused on addressing challenges such as discrimination, intolerance, hatred, and social division. Participants agreed that respectful conversations and cooperation between faith groups are essential for building stronger and more inclusive communities in Canada and around the world.

Organizers stated that interfaith events like the World Religions Conference provide an important platform for people of all backgrounds to learn from one another and strengthen relationships based on understanding and respect. The gathering concluded with a collective message that peace is a universal value shared by all religions and that communities must continue working together to create a safer, more united, and more compassionate world for future generations.
