A serious single-vehicle collision in Calgary is under investigation after a driver sustained life-altering injuries early Sunday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the crash around 6:20 a.m. at the intersection of Macleod Trail and 94 Avenue SE.
Vehicle Left Roadway
According to investigators, a 2017 Chevrolet Cruze traveling southbound left the roadway and struck a traffic signal pole located on the centre median.
The driver, a man in his 20s and the sole occupant of the vehicle, was initially transported to hospital in life-threatening condition.
Condition Updated
Authorities later confirmed that his condition has been upgraded to stable, though he has suffered serious, life-altering injuries.
Investigation Ongoing
The Calgary Police Service Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate the cause of the collision. Officials say both speed and alcohol are being considered as possible contributing factors.
No additional vehicles were involved in the incident.
