Airdrie Hit-and-Run: Police Search for Suspects After Child Injured

Police in Airdrie are searching for suspects after a six-year-old child was injured in a hit-and-run involving a gold Acura SUV.

Police in Airdrie, Alberta are searching for suspects after a six-year-old child was injured in a hit-and-run involving a sport utility vehicle.

The incident happened Thursday evening in a residential neighbourhood while a mother and her two children were outside clearing snow.

Vehicle Lost Control Near Sidewalk

According to Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the collision occurred shortly before 6 p.m. on Cobblestone Boulevard.

Investigators believe a gold-coloured Acura SUV lost control, left the roadway, and moved onto the sidewalk.

Police say the vehicle struck one of the children before hitting a nearby tree.

Driver Left the Scene

After the impact, the SUV reportedly left the area and continued south along Cobblestone Boulevard.

Authorities say the child suffered minor injuries.

Officials have not released additional personal details about the injured child.

Vehicle Found Abandoned

Investigators later located the suspected vehicle abandoned.

Police are now working to identify the individuals who were inside at the time of the collision.

Two Young Suspects Believed to Be Involved

According to investigators, two people were believed to be in the SUV:

  • a female driver estimated to be between 16 and 20 years old
  • a teenage male passenger believed to be between 16 and 18 years old

Police continue to ask anyone with information to come forward.

Investigation Continues

Authorities are reviewing evidence connected to the abandoned vehicle and the events leading up to the collision.

Police say the investigation remains active as they attempt to identify and locate the suspects.
