The Supreme Court of India has granted absolute anticipatory bail to folk singer Neha Singh Rathore, who faces allegations for allegedly posting objectionable content on social media regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Pahalgam terror attack.
The bench, comprising Justices JK Maheshwari and Atul S Chandurkar, passed the order after hearing arguments from the State counsel. Rathore had previously received interim protection from arrest, which the apex court has now made permanent.
The case stems from an FIR filed against Rathore for her online posts, which authorities claim were objectionable and potentially inflammatory. Supporters of the singer argue that the posts fall under freedom of expression.
