Calgary police have laid charges against three individuals following a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewellery store in the city’s northwest last month.

The robbery occurred on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at a business located in the 500 block of Dalhousie Drive N.W. Investigators say three masked men entered the store armed with hammers and smashed multiple glass display cabinets before stealing a quantity of jewellery. A fourth suspect allegedly stood guard at the entrance during the robbery.

All four suspects fled the scene in a stolen black Ford F-150 that had been left running outside the store. The total value of stolen merchandise and property damage is estimated at approximately $200,000.

Following an investigation, police have arrested two men and issued a warrant for a third.

Jonathan Michael Orgill, 44, of Calgary, is charged with:

  • One count of robbery
  • One count of breaching a release order
  • One count of possession of stolen property over $5,000

Austin James Florell, 30, of Calgary, is charged with:

  • One count of robbery
  • One count of being disguised with intent
  • One count of possession of stolen property under $5,000
  • Four counts of breaching a release order

Both Orgill and Florell remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

Police have also charged Joed Leonard Smith, 44, by way of warrant. He faces:

  • One count of robbery
  • One count of being disguised with intent
  • One count of fraud under $5,000

Smith remains at large. He is described as approximately 6’0” tall, weighing about 198 pounds, bald, with blue eyes and extensive tattoos.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact police. A photo of Smith has been made available through official City of Calgary channels.

The investigation remains ongoing.
